Get your mind out of the gutter! What we mean is, that Live Oak
Resort celebrated Christmas on December 11, 2004 as we carried on our
traditional holiday pot-luck buffet and gift exchange.
The evening started out promptly at 5:30 when Larry thanked his
guests for a wonderful 2004, and prayers for a safe, healthy and happy
2005. As one who's been at Live Oak for about a year and a half,
I've learned to grab a seat up front during these dinners, so after
Larry finishes with his speech, I could be one of the first in line to
grab the grub. As Danielle warned me she had made just 100
seafood-stuffed mushrooms, I was certain to be up front early.
Turns out that Patsy and Adrienne were hitting those 'shrooms, not
letting anyone get close to them. Well, I was able to steal a few,
then pile my plate high with everything from turkey to taters and ham to
hot rolls. I was more stuffed than the turkey. Guaranteed.
Then as if on queue, the crowd got up around 6:30 to prepare for the
gift exchange and dance. Well, true to tradition, Santa gave more
than a "ho ho ho" to every man and woman who sat on his lap.
Yes, an experience indeed...
For two hours, we bounced up and down, trading gifts until we all had
given and received - not necessarily what we wanted, but certainly what
we deserved! It was an outrageous event. You need to try it
next year. The big winner - of course - was Larry, who walked away
with a 1.75L bottle of Crown and 4 glasses... darn... But he did get it
fair and square. Watch out next year, Larry - we're keeping an eye
on you.
After the exchange, we all headed into Club Larry, where Santas, Ms
Santas and elves partied the night away. Talk about gift exchange!
I'm sure some "gifts" were exchanged after some very happy revelers left
the club to head back to their beds.
Enjoy the photos, and see you New Years!!!
